Celebrating the Adoptions Finalized During National Adoption Month
Today we want to recognize three more adoptions we had the pleasure of facilitating that were finalized during last November, our most recent National Adoption Month!
Two-year-old Jayden was adopted by his long-term foster parents, Shaun and Ilona. Shaun and Ilona were Jayden’s first and only foster family. They’ve known Jayden since he was a newborn, and have been caring for him since he was discharged from the hospital. Shaun, Ilona and their two children have provided a loving home to Jayden since, and they have been overjoyed to watch him grow and learn every day. They legally became a family on November 24, but they felt like a family long before that day. Congratulations to Jayden, Shaun and Ilona!
Siblings Megan (age 8) and Thomas (age 5) were placed in separate foster homes before their paternal aunts stepped forward to open their homes to their niece and nephew. Thomas was placed in the care of his aunt Terry, and Megan was placed in the care of her aunt Kim and her now-husband, Ned. This situation has suited the siblings very well, as they remain closely connected to each other, their extended birth family and their culture. The children spend time together nearly every day. Happily, Terry adopted Thomas and Kim and Ned adopted Megan in a joint adoption ceremony on National Adoption Day. Congratulations to both families!
It’s been a tough year for everyone in the CFCS community: the children and families we serve, the youth in our group homes, and even our staff. So we were so glad that in the midst of everything, these wonderful families could be legally recognized and celebrated. Congratulations to them and all the families whose adoptions were legalized in November!
