Harvard Square Auction to Benefit CFCS and Hildebrand House

If you’re by Out of Town News in Harvard Square in the next few weeks, you’ll likely notice two 7-foot-tall wooden giraffes decked out for the holidays. These giraffes are up for auction online, and 100% of the proceeds will go to support CFCS and the Hildebrand House

The giraffes, whose names are Barasa and Zawadi, were donated by Mary Kubai, the owner of African Gift Items, Ltd. Mary is a longtime member of the Harvard Square Business Association, and a friend to many businesses and organizations in Cambridge.

The giraffes are hand-carved from Jacaranda wood by the Wakamba, a tribe from the lower Eastern part of Kenya, known for their renowned carving skills.

They are listed for auction separately. You can bid on Barasa by clicking this link, and you can bid on Zawadi by clicking this link

Thank you so much to Mary and the HSBA for supporting local non-profits!
