Maggie Smith Promoted to Family Support & Stabilization Assistant Program Director

We’re thrilled to announce that Maggie Smith has been promoted to Assistant Program Director of our Family Support & Stabilization (FSS) Program! Maggie has been with our agency for three years, serving as a Family Support Specialist before she was promoted to Family Support & Stabilization Coordinator in 2020.  She earned a double major in Spanish and Human Services from Geneva College in Pennsylvania. Before coming to Bridges Homeward, Maggie worked as a Spanish-immersion Preschool Teacher. In her spare time, she enjoys singing, drinking tea, eating ice cream, baking, and spending time with friends and family!  Below, Maggie shares about her goals, philosophy, and her favorite things about working at Bridges Homeward.

What does your new job entail?
I will be assisting our amazing Program Director with the general and day-to-day running of the FSS program. Included in that is co-facilitating team meetings, supervision, assisting our FSS specialists with their work with families and collaterals, hiring and training new staff, communication and outreach with DCF partners, managing case assignments and closing families, and more!

What’s your favorite thing to do at your job?
My favorite thing to do in this position is provide clinical support and coaching to staff as they help families navigate the challenges in their lives and seek to promote permanent connections with family members and friends.

Do you have a philosophy/motto with which you approach your work?
One of the ways I think about and approach my work is to “Use the gifts I’ve been given to serve others.”

Do you have a goal you want to achieve at Bridges Homeward?
One of my goals working at Bridges Homeward is to continue to grow as an advocate for both clients and staff.

What’s your favorite thing about working with your team?
My favorite thing about my job is getting to work with such an incredible team! I really enjoy team meetings and being a part of the collaboration that happens every day. The FSS team does amazing work and I love seeing how each member brings their own gifts and talents to this agency and the families we serve to make a difference in our community both at Bridges Homeward and the Greater Boston area.
