Learning About Healthy Relationships with the Young Parents Support Program

There are many different ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day. You can love it or hate it; you can go on a date, choose Galentine’s Day instead or ignore it altogether. This year, our Young Parents Support program chose to turn Valentine’s Day into an opportunity for the young parents and adults we work with to learn about safe sex and healthy relationships, and have fun doing it!

Our YPS program partnered with Mass NOW to host “Love Rules!?,” an evening of free food, awesome education and goodie bags. Guest speakers from Mass NOW collaborated with CFCS staff to talk about safe sex practices, preventing domestic violence and periods. After the presentation, Mass NOW and CFCS facilitated a constructive conversation among the attendees.

All our YPS clients were invited, as well as the residents from both our group homes. The group of attendees was a great mix of young parents, teens and young adults in foster care, all who wanted to learn more about how to have safe, healthy relationships.

Everyone had so much fun talking and learning together that the event ran late. Thank you to Mass NOW for helping to coordinate such an enjoyable and educational evening! We thought this was a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day, and we hope it becomes an annual tradition!
