Family Support & Stabilization Team Organizes Back-to-School Supplies for Families
The pandemic has impacted every one of the 80 families we work with in our Family Support & Stabilization program, especially financially. Our families are working hard to balance work, childcare and maintaining their structures and routines. Going back to school was an especially difficult transition, as many families were uncertain of how their children would be attending school this year. This uncertainty brings up countless questions: will our young children be at home every day this school year? Will I need to take time off work to keep my kids in school? How will I work with the teachers on my child’s Individualized Education Program? And what school supplies will we need to buy for the upcoming year?
Our FSS team saw that they could help answer at least one of those questions definitively for our parents. So they pulled together some money and bought bags, pencils, markers, notebooks, pencil cases, crayons, and other essential school supplies for all the families with school-aged children in our FSS program! Then they worked together to put all the supplies together in back-to-school care packages, and delivered them to our families. Nice work, FSS team! Their teamwork helped these wonderful families start the school year on a much better foot!
