CFCS Celebrates National Adoption Day
On Friday, November 22, Massachusetts celebrated National Adoption Day by finalizing the adoptions of 140 children across the state. One of those adoptions was a case CFCS was proud to have supported: Paulo’s adoption of his grandson, Nathan.
Paulo has adopted Nathan’s two older brothers, Ricky and Jonathan. He has been working with our Adoption team over the past year to finalize his adoption of Nathan. On Friday, Paulo was very proud to stand in the courtroom with all three boys, as well as his daughter Stephanie and her son Josiah.
The judge who finalized the adoption, Judge Mark Newman, made some very nice remarks about Paulo and the strong traditions he will bring Nathan up in. He also spoke directly to Ricky and Jonathan, reminding them of the importance of their roles in Nathan’s life as his older brothers. As he read the final words of the adoption legalization, Ricky and Jonathan got up to stand with Nathan.
Nathan’s family was not the biggest group at the courthouse at that day, but his adoption was full of warmth and pride. And we are extremely proud as well: of Paulo and the great work he does and will continue to do, and of Nathan, Ricky and Jonathan.
Congratulations to this wonderful family. We feel very lucky to have gotten to celebrate this wonderful event for National Adoption Day, and we wish them all the best.
