A Message from Bob Gittens

Dear Friends of CFCS,

It is hard to believe that it has been two months since Governor Baker ordered only essential services and businesses to remain open. As one of those very essential services, CFCS has never stopped providing support to the children and families of Massachusetts. To ensure the safety and health of our staff and clients we did close our office but, throughout everything, CFCS has been working harder than ever to protect children and families in need.

Imagine living through this pandemic without knowing if you’ll be able to pay your bills next month, when you’ll see your birth family again or if the public support you rely on will be there for you when you need it. With your help we can ensure our families will come out on the other end of this successfully!

We continue to operate our group homes, providing safe haven to our young residents in this confusing time. Our social workers still visit foster and adoptive families, responding to families’ needs and concerns via telephone or video conferencing.

Our case managers are helping our clients with developmental disabilities fulfill their essential needs, even hand-delivering food to them when possible. Our family stabilization team is connecting families to educational tools, therapeutic resources and financial support for parents and children.

This is a stressful time for families, and we’re doing all we can to protect them as they focus on keeping their homes stable and children safe and healthy.

We have the knowledge and commitment to care for children and families in these unique times, but we need your help to provide them with the level of outstanding service they deserve. If you are in a position to contribute to CFCS, please do so. Children and families throughout Greater Boston are grateful for your friendship and support.

Wishing you safety and health,

Bob Gittens

Even the smallest donation can have a big impact for our children and families!
