Taylor Jonak Promoted to Independent Living Coordinator
We’re excited to announce that Taylor Jonak has been promoted to Independent Living Coordinator, after serving as the program’s Support Specialist for just seven months! In her new role, Taylor will oversee the Independent Living program, which lives under the umbrella of our Family Support & Stabilization program. Taylor will work with FSS program director Nanci Lytes to grow our Independent Living program, so we can serve a larger number of young people transitioning out of foster care.
For this article, Taylor shared some of her history at CFCS, including her favorite memory while working here and what she’s looking forward to in her new job.
Tell us a bit about yourself! What's a fun fact about you?
I’ve been with the FSS team since January, but prior to that I spent several years teaching life skills in CFCS’ residential programs. Fun fact: I love to paint with watercolors, because even the mistakes look like they’re supposed to be there.
How long have you worked at CFCS?
I’ve worked at CFCS for over 4 and a half years!
What are you looking forward to in your new position?
I’m looking forward to growing the IL program, as it’s historically been a fairly small program. I’m also excited about partnering with other agencies to spread the word about our IL program and pull in more external referrals.
What do you like most about working at CFCS? What's your favorite part of the day?
I love the small community feel because you’re able to really pull in everyone’s voice and expertise to tackle an issue. My favorite part of the day is definitely lunch, no contest.
Do you have a favorite memory of working at CFCS?
In 2017, the residents of our two group homes came to CFCS’s annual gala and got to schmooze with some big names in the Cambridge and Boston communities. They also auctioned off their artwork and were able to meet the people who bought it. That was special to witness.
