Lisa Tejeda Hired as Harbor Area Healthy Families Supervisor

We are excited to announce that Lisa Tejeda has joined us as our Harbor Area Healthy Families Supervisor! Our Harbor Area Healthy Families Program provides coaching and support to parents age 23 and younger in Chelsea, East Boston, Revere, Winthrop, and Charlestown as they navigate the ups and downs of parenting. Lisa joins us after working as a Housing Coordinator for HomeStart. Lisa has her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Massachusetts Boston and speaks Spanish fluently.

Can you describe your position?

My role entails providing hands-on guidance, support, and reflective supervision to the staff of our Healthy Families program. On occasion, I’m responsible for observing the Home Visitors while on their visits, to make sure they are in accordance with Program guidelines. I also work and collaborate closely with Lisnalda Beriguete, our Healthy Families Manager, who oversees the program’s operations.

What are you looking forward to working on the most in your first year?

I am looking forward to bringing the program to its full potential. I would like our Healthy Families program to be an important part of the communities we serve by providing guidance to young parents in the community. Many young parents have no idea what parenthood entails and by supporting them throughout the first three years of their parenting journey, they are able to form stronger foundations for themselves and for their child.

Do you have a favorite thing to do at your job yet?

I really enjoy being able to utilize the resources to provide for our participants, whether it’s picking up a Cradles 2 Crayons order, doing a Target diaper run or even providing participants and home visitors with other community resources to provide assistance and guidance.

Do you have a philosophy or motto with which you approach your work?

Loving kindness is a principle I adhere to when it comes to the work I do for others. Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness mean the world to someone going through something.

Do you have a goal you want to achieve at Bridges Homeward?

One goal I would like to achieve at Bridges Homeward is to make our Healthy Families program a staple in the communities we serve. I would like the program to become a well-known resource that the community can depend and rely on.
