Donors Like You Make All the Difference in Our Work!

We’ve been thinking a lot this year about our practice, constantly considering the work we do and ways we can be better in serving our clients. But as we come to the end of this year, we find ourselves reflecting on the impact our donors have, not only on our work but on the lives of the people we serve. Today, we’d like to share one example of how, without donors like you, we could not offer the high caliber of service on which we pride ourselves.

Teenagers who age out of the foster care system face greater challenges when they enter the world as adults than teens not in the system. Our social workers work hard to help youth in foster care develop and strengthen relationships with their family and other adults, mentors and caregivers who will be there for these youth for the rest of their lives. At the same time, we must help them build the skills they need to enter adulthood successfully.

Your gifts don’t just support our work, they enhance it.

Earlier this year, we hosted an immersive PAYA (Preparing Adolescents for Young Adulthood) class experience for our older teens in foster care, to teach them some basics of transportation and the responsibilities of owning a car. Before this class, our teens hadn’t been taught much about how to use the T, how to get a driver’s license or the enormous responsibility that comes with owning and operating a car. It’s because of support from our donors that we’re able to take this and our other PAYA classes to the next level. Our teens were able to have an engaging, hands-on learning experience, rather than sitting in a classroom all day looking at workbooks.

Your generous donations allow us to support our youth in foster care as they gain the skills they need to begin navigating adulthood. But your gifts don’t just support our work, they enhance it. Your donations make us able to offer some of the best-quality social services to people in Massachusetts. Without donors like you, the children and young adults served by our programs would not be as prepared, supported or informed.

In this season of giving, we hope you’ll consider supporting the children, adults and families we serve by making a donation today. Without you, we couldn’t do what we do.
