Celebrating a Parenting Journey Graduation at CFCS

After 12 weeks of hard work and dedication from parents and CFCS family support specialists alike, we graduated 15 enthusiastic parents from our Parenting Journey class this December.

One Parenting Journey graduate, who happens to also work with our Young Parents Support program, shared that in our class she learned to have better communication, be more patient and make friends in the group. Before Parenting Journey she felt depressed, but now she feels satisfied.

Another participant shared with us that the class changed her. She had been struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts, but in the Parenting Journey group she developed friendships, had the chance to talk about her past traumas, started working out and began to lose weight. She added that before Parenting Journey she felt sad and alone, but now she feels more and more happy!

One of our participants cried when she read the letter we gave her for graduation. “Those are the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me,” she said. “I want to thank you for teaching me how to step back mentally, so I can relax and stay calm so I don’t overwhelm myself. Thank you so much!”

And we felt humbled when we heard one of the graduates say, “Before Parenting Journey I felt lost, and now I have hope.”

Parenting Journey is a workshop series that offers an opportunity for parents to develop themselves as nurtured and nurturing people, capable of making responsible and informed choices in rearing their children. Parenting Journey focuses on promoting attitudes that enhance good parenting: respect, helping each other, listening with empathy and being curious. We partner with Parenting Journey and the Children’s Trust to provide these classes to our clients.

Congratulations to all our wonderful graduates! We feel very lucky to partner with Parenting Journey and the Children’s Trust, and to be able to share their resources with the parents we serve. We’re so glad we can offer Parenting Journey classes to the community of Greater Boston!

We offer our Parenting Journey course once a year in the fall. If you’re interested in taking a Parenting Journey workshop with us, or would like to refer someone to our workshop, fill out an inquiry form today!
