CFCS at STEPS 2019

Our Young Parents Support (YPS) staff was very excited to be a part of this year’s STEPS Young Parents Celebration, organized by Proud to Parent. YPS and Family Support & Stabilization case workers took turns representing CFCS at our table, meeting and chatting with young parents. We are proud to say that 20 people signed up to learn how to receive YPS services! We look forward to working with each one of these families.

The STEPS Celebration included workshops and Q&A sessions for young parents. The attendees also had the chance to sign up for high-quality essentials, such as strollers, bathroom accessories and high chairs. There were lots of opportunities for young parents to learn, take advantage of local resources and even walk away with something that would make their daily lives easier.

Each organization at STEPS had to choose a positive phrase that reflected their philosophy and attitude. Our staff chose, “You don’t have to be great to start, but if you start you can be great!” This sentiment rings true for every employee not just in YPS, but across CFCS. Each day, we try to achieve greatness by taking that first step in a new direction with families and children.

It was refreshing to attend a gathering for young parents that offered so many different activities and resources. Young parents often don’t have what they need to be able to support themselves and their families; YPS works to change that every day. We are proud to partner with other organizations who believe all parents deserve access to the best information, care and tools.
